She grew up on the family farm at Elkhart, and especially enjoyed riding her horse around the countryside. She attended Elkhart Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and graduated from North Polk High School in Alleman in 1964. They came home to Iowa and the Midwest often, and she especially enjoyed 4th of July Family Reunions at Leisure Lake, Missouri, with Aunt Algarette, Aunt Marge and many family members and friends. They retired to Marco Island, Florida, in 2001 where she enjoyed gardening, Gems & Jewels Club, and Newcomers Club. Anne loved to laugh and was very caring and intelligent. She always had dogs and cats whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her only sister, Judith B. Ault of Los Angeles. She is survived by her beloved husband, David Gardner; her much loved cats, Missie and Sarah; her aunt, Marjorie (Ault) Hargens; and many loving cousins.
