Clifton A. Langseth, 92, peacefully passed away on Monday, August 1, 2016, and went to be with his Lord forevermore. During his final few days, he was comforted by the closeness of his family: son, Chris Langseth and his wife, Sue; son, Mark Langseth and his wife, Mary; daughter, Amy Scott and her husband, Doug; grandchildren: Jeff (wife, Meagan), Nick, Josef (wife, Danyell), Sarah (husband, Chad), Laura; and great grandchildren: Nathan, Matthew, Ashton, Katie, Spencer, Tessa, and Violet. He was married in 1946 to Jane (Reid) Langseth until her passing in 1997; then to Mildred (Motes) Langseth, deceased 2006; and then to Anna (Southern) Langseth, deceased 2010. Clifton was born in 1923 to Ethel Mae and Christian Ingvald Langseth (a Norwegian immigrant).

After high school graduation, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps during WWII and flew 15 combat missions over Germany aboard a B-17. His plane and crew were shot down during the Schweinfurt Raid of August 1943. Clifton was held in a German POW camp until the conclusion of the war. Returning to KC after the war, he attended UMKC, graduating in 1949. He became an insurance underwriter at Universal Underwriters, until his retirement. Clifton was well respected for his many hours of volunteer work at the VA hospital in KC, the DAV, and for his work in the American Ex-Prisoners of War organization, serving as Chaplain of the Heart of American Chapter. He was a strong believer and attended Vista Baptist Church in Olathe for many years. Clifton was honest, generous and loved his family. He taught us all, by example, how to live correctly. He will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Ex-Prisoners of War, 3201 East Pioneer Parkway, Suite 40, Arlington, TX 76010. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 5, 2016, at Penwell-Gabel Olathe Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Interment will follow at Olathe Memorial Cemetery.
