The Life of CARL LOY GRACEY

Carl L. Gracey, 90, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Home in Indianola. He was born May 2, 1926 to Bertis and Grace Gracey in New Virginia, Iowa.

Carl served in the Marines during World War II. He retired from Firestone after working there for thirty years. Carl also belonged to VFW Post #9662, Boline Manfredi. He enjoyed fishing and mushroom hunting, working on cars, and anything outdoors.

Carl is survived by his children, Rebecca Denning, Patty Mills, Billy (Anne) Beals, and Dan (Diane) Gracey; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a host of other beloved family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joann in 2012; grandchildren, Rodney and Richie Griglione; his brother; and four sisters.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 8th, 2016, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, with burial following at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 12 to 2 p.m., on Monday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa, the Wounded Warrior Project, or Puppy Jake, in loving memory of Carl.
