The Life of Brad Wayne House II

Brad Wayne House II, 45, of Olathe, Kansas passed away on June 10, 2016. He was born in Lawrence, Kansas on December 8, 1970.

He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Colette Mlynek House, beloved son Alexander (Alex) Kevin House, age 12, his mother Ann (Kay) Catherine Decelles (Paul), Lawrence, Kansas, his brother John Robert House (Billie Joe), Wakarusa, Kansas, and his sister, Kimberly Kay House, Orlando Florida. His father, Brad Wayne House (Ann) recently passed four short months ago in February 2016. He is also survived by his nieces Alysen Claire House and Madison Elaine Seymour, his nephews John Robert House II, Brenden Alexander House and Dakota Rito Lopez. Brad was the first born grandchild on either side and was much loved by his grandparents as well as by his aunts, uncles and cousins.

Brad grew up in Topeka, Kansas and graduated from Topeka West High School in the spring of 1989. He played sports since grade school, first in the Rec Leagues and then in school. He competed in the Ken Berry baseball league. He attended Highland Community College where he had received a football scholarship to play on the football team. He received his Bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Exercise Science from Kansas State University and went on to earn his Master's degree in Exercise and Biomechanics from The University of Kansas. He then went to Omaha for a one year resident program in the different fields of nutrition. He married the love of his life, Colette Mlynek May 24, 1997.

Brad was employed at The University of Kansas Hospital since 1999. He began his career as a clinical dietician and later joined the Information Technology Team. There he started out serving as an analyst and most recently as Liaison Manager. He was much loved and respected by his co-workers. Patient care was still utmost in his mind due to his previous experience and was a strong advocate for patient safety. He had a passion for work and had many interests. He was a second degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and taught at Grand Master Kim’s studio. He coached many of his son's athletic teams and enjoyed their love of sports together. He was an avid supporter of his Kansas State Wildcats and was a season ticket holder year after year. He also enjoyed reading and loved vacationing with his family to Disney World as well as many other places.

Brad’s biggest goal in life was to leave a legacy by making a difference. His passion and love for people never allowed him to take the easy road, but always the right road. Brad strived to do the best for his family, friends, patients, co-workers or anyone in the community that needed his help. He never passed an argument when deep down it was the right thing to do or say, always keeping the patient, family or community in mind. This was apparent in his work by always remembering that there was a patient on the other side of the electronic medical records they were working with, or in raising his son to be a good person and working with him for hours to better his athletics and academics or in community service. He was very servant minded; he served his work, family and community in many ways. He will be greatly missed by many.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that you make donations in Brad’s name to the KU Endowment Association 4125 Rainbow Blvd #300, Kansas City, KS 66103. Please designate either the Garden of Infinite Possibilities or Clinical Nutrition Education. www.kuendowment.org
