The Life of VIRGINIA MARY PASSICK

Virginia “Ginny” Mary Passick went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, June 4th at Sunnyview Care Center in Ankeny, Iowa. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Ginny was born to Albert and Mary Fees on August 4th, 1920, near Polk City, Iowa. Six weeks after her birth, Albert passed away. Mary then married George Young, who raised Ginny and her siblings. She graduated from Polk City School in 1938. She married the love of her life, Arlo Passick in December of 1938, and together, they raised five children on acreage between Des Moines and Ankeny.

Growing up, Virginia enjoyed playing softball and basketball, and working on the farm. As she grew older, she enjoyed camping, fishing, watching the Cubs, Vikings, and her beloved Hawkeyes, playing Skip-Bo, and most of all, spending time with her family, particularly attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. She always enjoyed going to church and church activities, and she was a member of Saylorville Baptist Church since 1953. She loved the Lord most of all, and told her family to “always put the Lord first.”

When all of her kids were in school full time, Ginny went to work for the Bavarian Haus, and worked there for 25 years. She also worked for Super Valu where she retired from in 1985.

Virginia is survived by her five children: Roger (Carol) Passick of Ripley, Ok, Ralph (Pam) Passick of Fredericktown, OH., Kerry (Chris) Passick of Bondurant, Dan Passick, of Des Moines, and Joyce McDaniel, of Des Moines, 14 Grandchildren – Kim and Wes Passick, Janell Robisch, Dean and Bryan Passick, Lori Lazslo, Sean and Aaron Passick, Nick Passick, Ashley Smith, Alyssa George, and James, Jeremy, and Jennifer McDaniel, and their families, which includes 23 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog, Sparky.

Besides her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Arlo Passick, 4 brothers, 3 Sisters, grandson David Anthony Passick, Son-in-law James McDaniel, and Daughter-in-law, Marianne Passick.

Services for Ginny will be held at Saylorville Church, 6429 NW 6th Dr, Des Moines, IA 50313, on Wednesday, June 8th at 10:00 am. The family will receive visitors at the church from 4:00 until 7:00 pm the evening prior. She will be laid to rest at Highland Memory Gardens following Wednesday’s services.
