The Life of LORRAINE MARIE MASSEY
Lorraine "Gidget" Massey, 81, of Des Moines died at home on Saturday, February 13, 2016. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 17 at Iles Funeral Homes – Grandview Park Chapel. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 18 at Grandview Park Chapel followed by burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Lorraine was born on November 15, 1934 in Henry County, IL to the late John and Isabelle Oleson. She and Roger Massey married on May 15, 1954 and moved to Des Moines from Swan, IA in 1961. While making a home for her family she also maintained an in-home daycare and sold decorated cakes. Following Roger''''s death she worked in food service at East High School retiring in 1999. Lorraine was an avid reader. She greatly enjoyed playing cards and Dominos with friends and family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren gave her much joy.
Those left to cherish her memory include her three daughters, Ralaine and Elaine and Gloria Clark; son, Chris (Rhonda); grandchildren, Randi, Shauna (Curtis), Shannon (Kevin) Danielle and C.J.; seven great grandchildren; two siblings, Ronald (Sharon) Oleson of Prophetstown, IL and Shirley (Ronnie) Roselieb of Hooppole, IL; and stepson, Rick (Linda) Massingill as well as many extended family members in Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger; twin great granddaughters, Georgia and Willow; and siblings, Carlyle Oleson and Jackie Roselieb.
