The Life of DARLENE JOAN SULLIVAN

Darlene Sullivan was born January 6, 1932, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Irene (Carlson) and Regan Robinson. She passed away at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines on January 6, 2016, her 84th birthday.

Darlene graduated from North High School in 1950 and then from the Diploma Nursing Program at Broadlawns Hospital in 1953. She worked as a Registered Nurse for numerous years and retired from Iowa Lutheran Hospital in 1989.

Darlene was a dedicated and confirmed member of Grand View Lutheran Church, American Nurses Association, and State Nurses 7th district. She enjoyed devoted love by family and numerous friendships.

Darlene is survived by her husband of 63 years, Robert E. Sullivan; daughters, Patty (Darrel) Cox and Linda (Glen) Johnson; grandchildren, Joel (Joanna) Cox, Kelly (Benjamin) Gannon, Derek Johnson, and Scott Johnson; 3 great-grandchildren; as well as other family and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Mike Robinson; beloved aunt and uncle, Ethel and Ed Lamb; and her cousin, Jerry Lamb.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. A committal service will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines.
