Mrs. Sarah P. Whitcomb died last Sunday at 11 o'clock, aged 85 years and 23 days. Mrs. Whitcomb was one of the oldest settlers of Johnson county, and the mother-in-law of J. M. Giffin, Dr. A. D. Beach, and Dr. A. Doud, of Ft. Scott. The funeral took place, Tuesday, at 2 o'clock p. m., the ceremonies being conducted by Rev. A. V. Stout in his usual impressive manner, and was numerously attended, especially by the old settlers.
