IN MEMORIAN
Mrs. Elizabeth Roberts was born in Rutherford county, Tennessee. At twenty years of age she removed to Coffey county in the same state, where she became the wife of Rev. George Roberts, a Baptist minister who was also a physician. In 1857 they came to Holden, Mo., where her husband died, nineteen years ago. Since then Mrs. Roberts has resided with her children. She united with the Baptist church at twenty years of age, and was nearly seventy-four at the time of her death. Mrs. Roberts was of a quiet and retiring disposition and especially averse to any demonstration of religious feelings in public meetings or else-where believing that the daily life was the best proof of religious character. Her religious convictions, however, were deep and constant. Her relations with her children were those of devoted affection on both sides and her departure makes for them a loss which cannot be repaired.
