The Life of Ira Smith

STILWELL.

Died of heart failure at 2:30 a. m., March 16, Ira Smith, aged 80 years, 6 months and 20 days. The funeral services were conducted at the M. E. church March 17 at 9:30 a. m.. Rev. C. L. Groom, pastor of the Baptist church, officiating and the remains laid to rest in the Olathe cemetery, the Masons of Olathe officiating in the burial services of which the deceased was a worthy member.

The deceased was born in White county, Georgia, September 26, 1824. He was one of a family of 16 children. He was married to Elvira R. Kimsley, April 15, 1845, to this union were born eleven children, nine of whom survive him. At the age of 39 years he emigrated to Clay county, Mo., where he remained 7 years, thence to Johnson county, Kansas, where his wife Elvira died February 27, 1876, and in month of June 1889 he was married to Mrs. Mollie Addis who with the 9 surviving children are left to mourn their loss. He was converted in early manhood, and united with School Creek Baptist church in Georgia which he served faithfully as clerk for many years.

At the time of his death he was among the leading members or the Aubry Banpist church. As a Christian and exemplary citizen he will be missed in our communitv but our loss is his gain. We extend our entire sympathy to the bereaved ones. Rev. C. L. Groom of Garfield Avenue, Kansas City, Kas , is the pastor of the Aubry Baptist church. He holds services at Anbry church first and third Sabbath of each month.

Preaching services every 2d and 4th Sabbath in each month, Rev. J. E. Owen, pastor.
