Mary Ann Dill Ruttinger

Mary Ann Dill was born at Strongstown, Pine Twp., Indiana County, PA, where her father had a store and interests in five farms. She was married at Mechanicsburg (later Brush Valley), Brush Valley Twp., Indiana County, PA, and lived at East Wheatfield Twp., Indiana County, PA. If she stayed with her mother during the Civil War, that was at Armagh of the same twp. Her father George Dill was a wagon master for the Army, although he never enlisted. “Mrs. Frank Ruttinger
Mary Ann Dill, eldest daughter of George and Elizabeth Dill, was born April 30, 1841, in Indiana County, PA. She died at her home in Olathe, Kansas, January 7, 1932, at the age of 90 years, 8 months and 8 days. Miss Dill was united in marriage to Frank Ruttinger Jan. 7, 1963. They lived in Dilltown, Pa., while her husband served in the Civil War. Six children were born to this union. In 1869 they moved to Johnson County, Kansas, where they settled on a farm in West Aubry Township on the Black Bob Indiana Reservation. There they lived and raised their family through the hardships and privations of Pioneer Days. In 1896 they moved to the present home in Olathe. Her husband, Frank Ruttinger, departed this life June 20, 1921.
Mrs. Ruttinger was an active member of the W.R.C., also the Grange and Aid Society of the church until her failing health did not permit her to attend. She has been confined to her bed for the past year faithfully attended by her daughter Frances. Mrs. Ruttinger leaves surviving her: Two daughters, and one son, seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, one sister Elizabeth Buchanan of Clay Center, Kansas, and one brother B. S. Dill of Pittsburg, Pa.,
and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Jan. 9, 1932 at the First Methodist church conducted by Rev. E. M. Daniels. Burial in Olathe cemetery.”
