The Life of Gerald Lee Mermis

 
Gerald "Gerry" Lee Mermis, of Olathe, KS, passed away on January 15, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. 


He was born on August 26, 1946 to Frank and Bernadine (Leiker) Mermis in Hays, KS. 

On July 4, 1964, he married Rose Mary Mermis (Dinkel). They made their home in Hays, KS, where Gerry worked as a floor covering mechanic.

In 1987, they moved their family to Olathe, KS, where he worked as a warehouseman for SYSCO, until his retirement.

Gerry and his wife, Rosie, were long-time members of St. Paul Catholic Church in Olathe. He enjoyed woodworking, and appreciated the value of antiques and undiscovered treasure.


Gerry is survived by his loving wife Rosie, daughters, Tracy (Mike) Walters, Maria (Rusty) Ness, and Heather (Jon) Anderson, his sons, Christopher (Rayleen) Mermis and Clint (Laura) Mermis, grandchildren Elizabeth, Rachel, Madison, Haley, Jackson, Zack, Abby, Michael, Genevieve, Joseph, Erin and Megan, and his sisters Delores Hoffman, Alice Herman, and brothers Frank Mermis and William Mermis.


He was preceded in death by parents, his brothers Cecil and Vernon Mermis, and sisters Lilian Arnold, Mary Ellen Schmidt, and Betty Leiker.
