Fire Chief Dies

Apoplexy Claims One of Olathe's Well Known and Highly Respected Citizens.

Eldon V. Knox for 16 years fire chief for Olathe city, succumbed to an attack of apolexy passing away at his home in the city hall, January 14th, 1929, at 9 o'clock after physicians had made a desperate fight for his life.

Funeral services were held from the Masonic temple Wednesday morning, January 16th at 10 o'clock by Rev. Briggs, pastor of the Olathe Baptist church assisted by Rev. G. W. Braden of the Methodist church. Interment was in the Olathe cemetery.

Eldon V. Knox was in Olathe city, December 2, 1885 and has always made it his home. For 16 years he served as fire chief and a better one could not have been secured. His first thought always was his responsibility to the community and was always on the job ready to serve. He joined the Methodist church when a child and his life contained the true Christian ideal, living for others.

He leaves his widow, Mrs. Ruth Knox, his daughter Doris, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Knox, and four sisters to mourn his loss.
