The Life of Littleton Leachman
DIED - Littleton Leachman. an old and mosty respecte citizen of this place, at 7:30 o’clock p.m. Monday Nov. 1st, 1880 at the advanced age of 81 years, 9 months,and 16 days.
Mr. Leachman was the grand-father of our fellow townsman John L. Price, with whom he has resided for many years, and an Uncle of Mr. J. H. Blake of this city, his place of birth was Prince William County, Virginia, and by estimation will Saturday seen that he was born. during the last the January 15th, 1799. Few, if any of his generation survive him, but being a man of wonderful endurance and constitution
he has lived beyond the allotted three score and ten years. For the last four years he has been confined to his room almost constantly, seldom ever appearing on the streets, and for the last few months his condition was such as to require close and constant attention. -All that could be done was to make his last moments as comfortable as possible, and his bedside was never vacated by the faithful friends who attended him. The funeral services were conducted by the Rev.. Dr. Williamson, on Tuesday last, In the presence of a large assembly of friends who followed the remains to their final resting place.
