Obituary Mr. Charles Wesley Ewing.
Charles Wesley Ewing, son of John and Rebecca Ewing, was born in Brown county, Ohio, December 8, 1861. He died at University Hospital, January 17, 1922. He had one brother, Ed Ewing, of Boulder, Colo., and one sister, Mrs. N. S. Hazen, of Centralia, Kansas, who, with his aged mother, survive him.
He was married October 7, 1896 to Miss Minnie S. Goode, daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. G. T. Goode. To this union were born six children, a. little boy who was loaned to them for a few days; Helen Goode Ewing, who died at the age of four years, and Charles William, Mary Elizabeth, Irene Virginia and Ruth Lane, who, with their mother, live to mourn the death of a loving father and husband.
When he was seven years old he came, with his parents, to Kansas, and settled in Brown county, where they remained for five years, when they returned to Ohio. He again came to Kansas when about sixteen years of age. He made his own way through Paola Normal School at Paola, then through Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He graduated from Jefferson Medical College in 1888. He practiced medicine first at Prairie Center. In 1889 he moved to Edgerton. Four years later he moved to Wellsville, Kansas, where he was happy in his work for sixteen years. For four years he was most pleasantly associated in his work with Dr. T. W. Reid. In July, 1911, he took his family to Bozeman, Mont., where they remained till December of the same year, when they were called back to Olathe by the death of Mrs. Ewing''s mother. Since that time they have made Olathe their home.
He Joined the Methodist Episcopal church in early boyhood and remained a consistent member and supporter till his death. He was devoted to his family and true to his friends. Though a patient sufferer for four years during which time all that love and science could accomplish was done, his passing came as a distinct shock. He will be greatly missed. His memory will be a blessing.
His funeral was held from the family home January 19, 1922, at tended by many loving friends.
