The Life of Florence Lane Evans

Death of Mrs. L. R. Evans.
Florence Franklin Evans, wife of Mr. Lyle Evans, was born December 10, 1894, at Clinton, Mo. When she was three years of age her parents moved to Green county, Mo., and settled on a farm near Springfield. Here she lived for some eleven years. Later her folks moved near Olathe, for school advantages. She attended the Olathe high school and graduated with the class of 1914.

On February 21, 1917, she was united in marriage with Mr. Lyle Evans and they moved to his farm, southeast of Olathe where they have lived all their married life.

Of this union four beautiful children were born; Irene, age 10; Robert Lyle, age 8; Lavern, age 5; and Franklin, age 3; who, with their father, are left to mourn the loss of a loving mother and a brave helpful wife. She is also survived by her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Franklin, and one sister, Miss Lucile Franklin.

Mrs. Evans was baptized when a child six months old, by the Rev. Dr. Gibbon, of the Methodist Episcopal Church South.

Some five years before her marriage, she joined the Methodist Episcopal church at Lenexa, and from that church had her membership transferred to Olathe, where she has been a member since 1917.

For several years after becoming a member of the church she and her husband were regular in their attendance. Later with a family of small children, she found it difficult to attend, as they were four and one-half miles from the church, but being a woman of unusual ambition and energy she was usually found in her place, till failing health made it impossible.

For more than a year she battled with a mortal disease, but finally lost; yet through it all she was brace, hopeful and patient. However last Saturday evening, when the end came, she was ready and unafraid. It seems hard for one to go, when there is so much to live for, but we indulge the hope that "Some day we'll understand."

The death of this good woman and wonderful mother occurred in Kansas City, Saturday. The funeral service was held Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist church, conducted by her pastor, Rev. Geo. W. Braden. Burial was made in the Olathe cemetery.
