The Life of Samuel Andrew Christy

An Old Cltiizen Gone

Dr. S. A. Christy, an old and esteemed citizen of Olathe died at his home in the southern part of the city on Thursday, November 15th, of paralysis, from which he had been a sufferer for about one year, aged 73 years, 5 mouths and 5 days.

The funeral services were held at the -Christian church at 1:30 p. m. on Saturday, November 17th, conducted by Elder C. E. Tomeroy, who delivered an eloquent and impressive sermon. The services were attended by Olathe Lodge No. 19, A. F. & A. M., of which fraternity deceased had long been a worthy member, after which the order accompanied their deceased brother to the grave and buried his remains in accordance with the beautiful rites prescribed by the Masonic ritual.

Dr. Christy conducted the People's Bank, now the Patron's, for several years after coming to Olathe, but afterwards changed his business and followed the occupations of a druggist until stricken with the disease which finally carried him off. The deceased was a careful and accommodating business man, having the good will and confidence of a large circle of patrons and friends, and no one was ever heard to speak of him but with the greatest respect.

He leaves a widow, daughter and son at home and a daughter, Mrs. H. D. Smith, of Marshall, Mo., to mourn their great loss, who are assured of the sympathy of all their neighbors and friends in their sad bereavement.
