The Life of Henry G Fleek

DEATH OF HENRY FLEEK.

Death has removed one of the oldest, if not the oldest, old settler of Johnson County. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Fleek settled on their farm west of Olathe, early in '57, after having lived two years in Leavenworth County. At the Old Settlers picnic here several years ago he and Mrs. Fleek took the prize for the married couple living longest in this county.

 His death occurred at the family home, early Friday morning.  Henry Fleek was born in Virginia, December 1st. 1832. He grew to manhood in Missouri and was united in marriage with Rachel Russell September 24. 1854. To this union there are living five girls and one boy: Mrs. Mary Towner, Mrs. Amanda Lane, John Fleek, Mrs. Rochester of Washington State, Mrs. Eliza Carver and Mrs. W. J. Moore, all of whom live in or near Olathe except Mrs. Rochester. There are seventy-two children, grand children and great grand children.

Mr. Fleek united with the Methodist church in early life, but on account of his age and affliction he was not able to affiliate with the church for several years. The funeral was conduicted from the family homestead at 2 p. m. Saturday, Rev. Z.B. Zook officiating.The body was interred in the Olathe cemetery.
