The Life of Darthula Ferrell

Death of Mrs. Darthula Ferrell

Darthula Griffith, youngest of five children, born to Caleb and Rutha Griffith, was born near Lebanon, Russell county, Va, October 6, 1850. Father, mother, brothers and sisters preceeding her in death. Her death occurred at the family home, near Olathe, Kansas, September 17, 1919, after a long illness of fourteen months.

In her condition we would say she was a patient sufferer, always putting her trust in the Lord. She professed faith in Christ at the age of 12 years, but never was united as full member of the Baptist  church. Always a believer in God’s Holy Word, she was raised in a Christian home, one of her brothers being a Baptist minister.

She was united in marriage to Oscar F. Ferrell, May 5, 1866. Her life was crowded so full of unselfishness in helping others that her death was most beautiful, peaceful and sweet.

Funeral services were held at the home, conducted by Rev. J. Willard De Yoe, of the M. E. church. The body was laid to rest in the Olathe cemetery. She leaves her family and  a host of friends to mourn her death.
