The Life of Judy Ann Kidd

DIED
Kidd - In Olathe, Kansas, July 10,1888, Judy Ann, daughter of Pleasant A. Kidd, aged six years, six months and twenty-four days
The peculiar circumstances surrounding the sickness and death of this little girl, her delicate beauty, her sudden illness so soon after coming here with no mother to offer words of comfort or soothe her lonely pillow, the apparently helpless condition of the almost distracted and aged father who seemed too old to bear that tender relation to a child so young and lovely, coupled with her intense suffering, aroused in her behalf the warmest sympathy of our best citizens who administered to her every want as soon as the exigencies of the case became known.
She had no mother, but these noble hearted women watched over her with a devotion as warm and tender as if she were a child of their own. Her lot was cast among strangers, but that Heavenly Father who watches over even the fall of a sparrow raised up loving friends who cooled her aching brow and mingled their tears with her sighs. It was a case that called for love and sympathy and nobly and unselfishly was the call met by Mrs. Captain Miller, Mrs. J. H. Dow, Mrs. Harry lies, Mrs. Bert Henry, Mrs. David Reynolds, Mrs. Gile, Mrs. Kupferschmidt, Mrs. Giger, Mrs. Athey, Mrs. J. M. Nelson, Mrs. James Hamilton, Mrs. Frank Moore, and Miss Allie Pennington. These ladies were ably assisted by J. II. Dow, Col. S. R. Burch, W. H. Montague, Mr. Barker and the Rev. Mr. Stout, pastor of the Presbyterian church. Dr. Julien, her attending physician, saw that her case was hopeless from the start, but he inasmuch devoted in his attention and did everything that could be done to alleviate her suffering until the angel of the Lord claimed her as his own.
These same friends saw that she was kindly cared for after death, and followed her remains to their final resting place in the Olathe Cemetery, where she will sleep the sleep, that knows no waking  till the final day that will solve the mystery of life and death for us all.
