Obituary.
The funeral of Mrs. Mary L.McBride, wife of Harry McBride, took place from the family residence south-east of Olathe last Friday at 2p.m., the services being conducted by Rev. A. V. Stout, of the Presbyterian church. A very large number of friends and acquaintances attended and also followed the remains to their last resting place in the Olathe cemetery

Mrs. McUride was born in Indiana in 1839, and was united in marriage with Harry McBride in 1860, coming to Kansas, she with her husband, settled in Johnson county where she continued to reside up to her death. She leaves beside her husband, a family of four children, all grown three boys and one girl. The boys several years ago went to Florida where they now reside. Mrs. McBiide was a sister of Mrs. R. M. Lovell. of Pittsburg, Kan as, Mrs. E. S. Kingsley and Mrs. Allie McBride, of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. A. L. Voorhees, of Lawrence and J. R. Brown of this city. She died of heart disease of which she had long been a sufferer.

A kind and affectionate mother, a loving and dutiful wife, an obliging neighbor were all combined in her, whose spirit has burst the narrow confines of the cradle of this life and fled to that better unknown. Her departure was quick and painless, thus ex eniplifying the truth, that "in midst of life we are in death."

"O cruel death, to those you take more kind,
Than to the wretched mortals left behind."
