The Life of John Roy Motley

John R. Motley, 78, passed away peacefully, Sunday, December 30, 2012 at the home of his son in Overland Park, KS, after a short illness. John was the son of the late Hubert and Sally Motley of Rockport, Illinois. He worked 21 years for Gardner Denver and later for Contractors Supply until retirement. In 1953-55 John was the Golden Glove Champion of Pike County, IL. He was an avid bowler and loved KU Jayhawk basketball. John was preceded in death by a sister and two nephews. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; 3 sons, Gregg (Kim), Baxter Springs, KS, Tim, Seattle, WA and Chris (Jenny) Overland Park, KS; 3 brothers, Dick, Hannibal MO, Bill, Quincy, IL, and Ron, Nauvoo, IL; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 5, 11 a.m. visitation, with service following, 12 p.m. at Grandview Assembly of God, 12400 Grandview Rd in Grandview.
