The Life of William Lewis Ward

William Lewis Ward, 65 of Louisburg, Kansas, died Friday surrounded by his family.

He was born in Shenandoah, Iowa, to Harold and Margaret Ward. He grew up in North Kansas City along with his brothers John, Harry, Tom and sister Martha. He graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1966. After attending Covenant College for two years; and he joined the US Navy where he served from June 1969 to June 1979 with three years aboard the USS America from 1976 to 1979. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, he began his career as a Field Service Engineer installing and servicing CT scanners and MRI machines located at hospitals in the greater Kansas City area. He celebrated 25 years of service with GE Medical Systems, prior to retiring on June 30, 2012.

William was a lifelong member of the Shawnee Reformed Presbyterian Church. On December 23, 1970, he married his childhood sweetheart, Sharon Faris, whom he met in Sabbath School at the age of 5 years old. He and Sharon had three children, Amy Louise, Rebecca Ann, and David Andrew.

In May 2003, he fulfilled a lifelong dream, graduating with honors from Washburn University with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree. He enjoyed wood working, home remodeling and maintenance, and mentoring young people. He appreciated being with his family and friends, especially his children and grandchildren. He and Sharon celebrated 42 years of marriage this past December. He is now with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Elizabeth Ward and a brother David Andrew Ward. He is survived by his loving wife Sharon; three children, Amy Ward, Rebecca (Jason) Neudeck, and David (Becca) Ward; his father, William Harold Ward; three brothers, John (Sue) Ward, Harry (Mary Jane) Ward and Tom Ward; a sister, Martha (Brian) Long; and four grandchildren, Nathan, Hannah, John and Michaela Neudeck.

Visitation and Funeral Service

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, March 4, 2013, at the Amos Family Funeral Home.The funeral will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday March 5, 2013, at the Shawnee Reformed Presbyterian Church.
