The Life of Ernest W Arrasmith

Funeral services for Ernest W. Arrasmith were held at Julien's Chapel at two o'clock last Monday afternoon. Mr. Arrasmith's death occurred as a result of a heart attack Saturday morning at his home, 647 West Fifty-ninth street in Kansas City, Missouri.

Ernest Arrasmith, who was known as the dean of Kansas City motor car dealers, was connected with the development of the motor car industry from the very first models of the "horse-less carriages" up to its present models.

He was born on a farm five miles east of Olathe and was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Arrasmith. His mother passed away in 1908 and his father passed away at his home last November. Mr. arrasmith was a member of the Country Club Lodge of Masons, of the Scottish Rite bodies and the Shrine. He was a member of the Royal Order of Jesters, an organization of Shriners, and of the Shrine Patrol also.

For the past 30 years he has been in business in Kansas City. He first was a salesman, later a dealer in buggies and travelled for a firm of Macon, Missouri, selling horse drawn vehicles. When motor cars first appeared on the market, Mr. Arrasmith entered the selling field and sold many of the first motor cars in Kansas City. He was connected with several prominent Kansas City firms and owned several agencies of his own. At the time of his death, he was operating the Ernie Arrasmith Chevrolet Company in Independence, Missouri, which he opened in 1929.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ana Arrasmith, a daughter, Miss Ernestine Arrasmith of the home; two sisters, Mrs. L. W. Williams and Mrs. P. H. Goode, both of Lenexa; and three brothers, O.G. Arrasmith, Fletcher Oklahoma, and Fred W. Arrasmith and Ed Arrasmith, both of 3814 Wyandotte street, Kansas City, Missouri.
