The Life of JOHN HENRY CARR

Jack Carr, 83, passed away on October 18, 2015, at his home in Avon Lake, Iowa. He was born in Des Moines on June 5, 1932, to John and Marianne Carr.

Jack attended Lincoln High School and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was an Iron Worker and belonged to the Local 67. Jack had many valuable skills to offer and was known as the neighborhood fix-it man. He was a caring and generous man who would do anything for anyone in need.

Jack was an avid antique radio collector and enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling.

Jack is survived by his children, Bonnie Porter and Dennis Carr; grandchildren, Ann Marie Porter and Kristopher Porter; great-grandson, Alexander Vick; sisters, Elizabeth (Leroy) Rothfus and Jean (Horst) Schroeder; brother, Peter (Phyllis) Carr, and the mother of his children, Darlene Freeman. He was preceded in death his parents and four brothers.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2015, at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, 1 NE 60th Avenue in Des Moines.
