The Life of LEWIS ALANSON THOMAS

Lewis "Lew" Alanson Thomas passed away on April 23, 2015 at the age of 82. 

Lew was the first resident at Sugar Creek Assisted Living Facility in Troy, where he resided for the past 6 years.  He was a member of ITU (Interntional Typographical Union), and Highland Park Christian Church in Des Moines. 

His hobbies were automobiles, camping, fishing, hunting, swimming, playing bridge & cribbage.  Lew was an avid sports fan, and followed the St. Louis Cardinals, Iowa Hawkeyes, Iowa State Cyclones and the Mizzou Tigers.  He had a life-long passion for politics, and was always willing to share his sports and political opinions. 

One of his greatest joys was his family, and he enjoyed being with them.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.  He is survived by his two sons; Randy (Mary) Thomas of Troy, MO and David (Jennifer) Thomas of Brisbane, Australia; son-in-law, Jim (Michelle) Hafke of Westminster, CO; nine grandchildren: Melanie & Roslynn Hafke, Madeline, Mariah & Micha Thomas, Marley, Max, Mitch & Matilda Thomas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Thomas nee Freeman; parents: Fred & Edna Thomas nee Littlejohn; daughter, Kathy Thomas-Hafke; brother, Ricahrd Thomas; sisters: Shirley Lamb & Elanor Borgstadt.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Highland Park Christian Church in Des Moines, Iowa.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Heartland Lupus Foundation in St. Louis, MO or to the Audoan Society in care of Pitman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 248, Wentzville, MO 63385.
