The Life of LAWRENCE RONALD GALE

Lawrence R. “Dick” Gale, Sr., of Des Moines, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2015 at Iowa Methodist Hospital with his loving family beside him. Dick was born on April 8, 1933 in Des Moines to Madge (Umphress) and Royce Gale.

Dick served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired after 45 years from the phone company. Dick was an avid bowler, golfer and loved playing cards. Most of all he enjoyed the time he had with his wife and his family. He will be greatly missed.

Dick is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Marlene; daughters, Tammy (Greg) Krambeck and Kelly (Joe) Young; nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; brother, Robert; sisters, Janet and Sonia; many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and children, Rick Gale Jr. and Lisa Karnes.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. He will be laid to rest at Highland Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Family will greet visitors an hour prior to the service.
