The Life of ROBERT LOUIS ROMELTON
Robert L. Romelton, 93, passed away on Friday February 6, 2015 at the Story County Senior Care Center in Nevada.
Robert was born in Valley Junction, Iowa on April 18, 1921, to Louis and Vallie (Johnson) Romelton and lived in the Des Moines area most of his life. Robert served in the U.S. Navy SeaBees during WW ll and married Ardith Kenworthy on April 20, 1946. He worked as an apprentice for two years at the Rock Island Railroad and over 34 years as a machinist for Meredith Publishing in Des Moines. Robert was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines.
He is survived by his daughter Jody (Joe) Melcher of Nevada and a son Jon (Robin) Romelton of Decorah; one granddaughter Jenny (Adam) Reese of Johnston; and two great grandsons Noah and Tristan Reese. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ardith, and sister Lee Alta Morine.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Nevada Public Library or Memorial Lutheran Church.
