The Life of SARA ROSE HOUGH RUTHS

Sara Rose (Hough) Ruths died Jan. 19, 2015 at a care facility in Meridian, Idaho after a brief struggle with cancer.

She was born Sept. 29, 1924 in Des Moines, Iowa to Harold and Coy (Smith) Hough; the third of three girls. She lived in Des Moines the majority of her life. Sara married Richard "Dick" Ruths in 1948. They had two children Gary (Meridian, ID) and Pam Newberry (Williamsburg, IA). Sara was a homemaker while her children were in school. She returned to the workforce following their graduations, working in the Des Moines public schools as a cook until her retirement. She was a lifelong member of Highland Park Christian Church of Des Moines; where she served in different roles. One joy was cooking, especially for the youth groups of the church, both in Des Moines and Boise too, after moving to Idaho in 2005.

She leaves behind her children, son Gary and his wife Cindy, and her daughter Pam and her husband Jim; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two nephews, and a niece.She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, and her husband. She was blessed in life and in her dying by her friends and family.

Inurnment will be at Highland Memorial Gardens in Des Moines, IA, where a graveside service will be conducted.

A memorial service for her will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 17, at Highland Park Christian Church in Des Moines, Iowa, with burial of cremains to be held at the Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery following the service.
