The Life of DONALD ARLO DAVIS

Donald Arlo Davis, 85, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2015, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston after a short battle with lung cancer. There will be a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. A graveside service will be held at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 5th.

Don was born in Garden City, Kansas, to Oakley and Edrie (McCullough) Davis. They moved to Osceola, IA where they lived for a while before moving to Des Moines. He graduated from Des Moines Tech High School.

In 1948, he married Marilyn Boylan and together they raised two sons, Dennis and Gregory. Don and Marilyn loved square and round dancing, and watching the Cubs and Hawks. Don worked in the printing industry all his working years and retired from Acme Printing.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Marilyn; sons, Dennis (Carol) and Greg (Nancy); four grandchildren, Denny (Betsey), Chad (Paul), Niki (Rudy), and Kati (Devin); as well as five great-grandchildren, Emma, Devin Jr., Eleyna, Christian, and Zoey. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother.

The family would like to thank all of the medical personnel that have helped him and his family through the end, and all who have provided support through this difficult time.
