The Life of Walter J. Soldra

Walter J. Soldra, age 75, husband to Margaret Mitchell Soldra and resident of Ansonia, entered into eternal rest Dec. 31 with his loving family by his side. He was born Aug. 27, 1939 in Derby, son of the late Walter Soldra & Sophie Opuszynski Soldra. He worked for BFI formerly Archer for 30+ years as a foreman. Walter attended the Church of the Assumption in Ansonia and was a member of the Milford Chapter of the Knights of Columbus, Norwood A.C., Subalpi Club and Ansonia Senior Center. He was also an enthusiastic UCONN Basketball, NY Yankees and NASCAR fan, and enjoyed going to Kaptan’s Restaurant in Ansonia and Fritz’s Snack Bar in Oxford. In addition to his wife, he leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Cheryl (Albert) Szokol of Seymour, son Michael Dupre (Melissa), brother John Soldra of Ansonia, sister Marie Batza & her husband Rich of Oxford, several nieces & nephews and his “Grand dogs” Lexi, Girl & Cleo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015 at 9:30 a.m., friends are asked to go directly to The Church of the Assumption in Ansonia. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday at The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (www.jenkinskingfh.com) In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children''s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105.
