The Life of ELANOR BEE WADDLE
Elanor B. Waddle, 77, was born August 17, 1937, in Bussey, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Kathryn Mathews. She passed away at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell, Iowa, on December 3, 2014.
Elanor worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation for more than 25 years until her retirement in 1992. She was a member of Central Iowa Model A Club and the Red Hat Club. She loved bowling and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, playing cards, Bingo, and solving crossword puzzles.
Elanor is survived by her husband of 60 years, Leroy; daughters, Linda (Jack) Cort, Lori (Dave Jones) Tucker, and Nancy (Tony) Neels; grandchildren, Jennifer Jacobs, Steven (Susan) Cort, Kelley (Brooks) DeHeer, BillyJohn Tucker, Kati (Justin) Bernard, and Dustin (Bizzy) Jividen; great-grandchildren, Haley, Derek, Shelby, Grace, Sophia, Alaina, Aiden, Jenna, Tyler, Ashlee, Lillian, and Liam; great great-grandson, Ivan; siblings, Darrel (Karen) Mathews and Margaret (John) Hicks; as well as a host of other family and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Jami Tucker; brother, Henry Mathews; and sister, Esther Post.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, December 8, 2014, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
In loving memory of Elanor, memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Manor or to a hospice of the donor’s choice.
