The Life of JOAN ROSE RENEKER

Joan Eddleman RenekerJoan Eddleman Reneker, 83, of Akron passed away May 20, 2014.

Born in Des Moines, Iowa on January 6, 1931 to the late William Ralph Eddleman and Rosa Franz Eddleman and sister of William R. Eddleman who was killed on Okinawa in World War II, Joan was the Editor-in Chief of the East Des Moines High School newspaper and graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Home Economics.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Darrell H. Reneker; son, Douglas Alan (Margaret) Reneker of Naperville, Illinois; daughter, Elizabeth Ann (Stephen) Riley of Williamsburg, Virginia; grandchildren, Thomas (Elizabeth) Reneker, Joseph Reneker, Kathleen Riley and Patrick Riley.

Her 20 year involvement with the Montgomery County Maryland 4-H program included serving as a club leader, fair coordinator and county level volunteer. She shared her expertise in homemaking, cooking, sewing and design with hundreds of 4-Hers.

After moving to Akron, she joined the Welcomers'' Club holding several officer''s positions. Joan enjoyed traveling with her husband, including trips to Japan, England, South Africa, Turkey and Saudi Arabia. She accomplished all of this while afflicted with Juvenile Onset Arthritis.
