Betty Jean was born on March 9, 1929 to James and Blanche Cruchelow of Des Moines, Iowa. Betty was the older sister of Elizabeth Breheny Ford. She and her sister attended East High School in Des Moines, Iowa. After graduation and a few years of employment she met her husband to be, Charles J. Abbott. She went to work with Bankers Trust where she retired after 43 years as a check encoder. Both of Betty’s parents, sister, and husband preceded Betty in death.

She is survived by one cousin, Rosemary Lehman of Sarasota, Florida; and three second cousins: John Helvig, David Helvig, and Kathleen Skeens; third cousin, Joshua Helvig; and other nieces and nephews on Charles Abbott’s side of the family.

There will be a graveside service at Highland Memory Gardens on Saturday, May 10th, 2014 at 10 a.m.
