The Life of MARY LOUINE JOHNSON

Mary Johnson, 89, was born January 29, 1925 in Des Moines, the daughter of Merle and Esther (Dearborn) Beem. She passed away March 7, 2014 in Cameron, Missouri.

Mary graduated from Woodside High School in Des Moines. She was united in marriage to Edwin Johnson on July 24, 1946. Mary was a devoted stay at home mother, always looking after her children’s every need. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 9662, and was also a member of the National Poet Society.

Mary enjoyed crocheting which was a skill she carried all her life. She was always eager to start a new project and took pride making afghans for Hospice, family, and friends. She also enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, bird watching, watching Animal Planet and the Golden Girls. Mary was a kind and gentle person who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mary is survived by her children, Donna (Charles) Reynolds of Webster Groves, MO; Christine (Art) Snelson of Des Moines; Edwin (Carla) Johnson, Jr. of Humeston, IA; William (Denise) Johnson of Des Moines; James (Malia) Johnson of Durant, OK; Thomas (Rhonda) Johnson of Altoona; John (Janet) Johnson of Alleman, IA; Mary (Sam) Glick of Des Moines; Steven (Elaine) Johnson of Gallatin, MO; and Deanna Wood of Gallatin, MO; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; her sisters, Donna (Carroll) Connett and Susan Spaulding; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin; brothers, Robert and Ben David; sister, Lenna White; and two great-grandsons, Blake Johnson and Mason Warren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will greet friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
