The Life of MARY A. RUPPERT

Mary A. Knowles Ruppert, 91, of Muhlenberg Twp., beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Sunday, February 19th in her residence. Mary was the wife of John A. Ruppert. Mary and John were married November 13, 1994. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Edward D. Knowles.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Anthony Varicchione and Raefaella (Procopio) Varicchione. Mary was employed by Western Electric- T&T as a layout operator for many years.

 

She was a member of St. Mary's Church in Kutztown.

 

Mary was a member of Huguenot Lodge Eastern Star in Kutztown.

 

Mary was formerly a volunteer at the Hamburg Center, she delivered Meals on Wheels and was the seamstress at Sacred Heart Villa for many years.

Mary loved spending time with family and friends, having hosted many summer get-togethers. She was a fabulous cook and baker. She was very proud of the fact that she taught all her grandchildren to swim. She will be dearly missed by all.

 

Surviving are five children: Debra A. Haberstroh and fiancé, Larry Walton, of Ocean Pines, Md.; Stephen E. Knowles and fiancée, Michelle Gogno, of Lenhartsville; Brian E. Knowles and wife, Wendy, of Ashville, N.C.; Maureen A. Yoder and husband, Alan, of Fleetwood; and Coleen A. Procopio and husband, David, of Fleetwood.

 

There are ten grandchildren: Jason A. Knowles, Lisa A. Ostrom, Keith D. Knowles, Melissa M. Burgert, Caitlin Keim, Pamela M. Roudybush, Danielle M. Buckwalter, Kristen M. Yoder, Stephanie M. Warner and Matthew D. Procopio.

 

Also, twelve great-grandchildren: Jacob Brewer, Evan Ostrom, Gabrielle and Michael Knowles, Cole Ostrom, Mason and Weston Burgert, Madison and Oliver Roudybush, Dominic and Makayla Warner, and Nicole Miller.

 

Mary is predeceased by her siblings: Joseph, Benjamin, Ponti, Theresa, Nina, Rose, Elizabeth, Frances and Angie.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 24th at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Villa Chapel, 51 Seminary Ave., Reading, PA 19605 with Rev. Msgr. Walter T. Scheaffer celebrant. A viewing will be held on Friday morning from 9 until 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Villa Chapel.

Interment will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery.
