Obituary for Alice A Maxwell

YOUNGSTOWN – Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 119 Stadium Drive, Boardman, for Alice A. Maxwell, 83, who died Wednesday morning at Greenbriar Quality Care of Boardman.

Alice was born Aug. 6, 1930, in Alliance, a daughter of the late John Christy and Dorothy Bruce Dick and was a lifelong area resident.

She graduated from Boardman High School in 1948 and received her Nursing Degree from Youngstown State University. Alice was retired from her nursing career after working for the East Liverpool Hospital and Ashley Circle Nursing Home.

Alice was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, the quilting group at the Trinity United Methodist Church, and Flora McDonald Auxiliary No. 58. She enjoyed working at the Canfield Fair in the International booth for Scotland.

Her husband, Jack H. Maxwell, whom she married July 16, 1949, died Nov. 2, 2001.

She leaves two sons, Jack L. (Carole) Maxwell of Poland and Ronald B. Maxwell of Youngstown; two sisters-in-law, Shirley (Harry) Swank of Columbiana and Nancy (Donald) Roller of Missouri; her goddaughter, Karla Woods; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and her husband, Alice was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen A. Maxwell; and a sister, Marjorie Dick.

Friends may call Sunday at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Anstrom Chapel, 8387 Tod Ave., Boardman, from 2 to 4 p.m. and Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Westminster Presbyterian Church.
