Obituary for Carmel Prystash Hageal

BOARDMAN – Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Charles Catholic Church in Boardman for Carmel Morabito Hageal, 86, who passed away on Jan. 21, 2014, at her home in Boardman.

Carmel was born, Feb. 12, 1927, in Niles, a daughter of Salvatore and Angeline Pulgisi Morabito.

Carmel was a pioneer business woman owner in the Youngstown and Boardman areas of creative design in women’s fashion clothing and apparel.

She is survived by her sister, Irene, who resides in Sun City, Ariz. and her sons, Joseph Landis (Pamela Porter) and James Landis, all of Canfield. Additionally, she is survived by her four grandchildren, Darren Landis, Lauren Landis Kaleel, Tyler Landis, and Kendra Landis, all of Canfield; and she also leaves behind a son of her heart, Sam Orr.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Mary, Anna, and Martha; and her brother, Joseph.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-0029 or Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, OH 44512.

The Hageal family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell and will receive friends on Friday, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Charles Church in Boardman.
