Obituary for Grady J. Wheeler

Grady Jones Wheeler, 84, of Mentor, peacefully went home to be with the Lord Dec. 9, 2013, at Hospice House in Euclid. Born Sept. 5, 1929, in Lenoir, N.C., Grady served in the Korean War before moving to Ohio, where he was a resident for the past 58 years. He was employed at Glasscote Products and Picker X-Ray. Grady was happiest when tending his garden, going to garage sales and visiting with his neighbors. Survivors are his loyal and devoted wife of 58 years, Joyce J. (Sowers) Wheeler; and their children, Peggy S. Wheeler of Chardon, Gary L. (Denise) Wheeler of Perry and Michael D. Wheeler of Mentor. He is also survived by his daughter, Mitzie (Gary) Logsdon and two sisters, Jewel Wheeler Pennell and Helen Wheeler Greene of Lenoir, N.C. Grady leaves behind three grandchildren, Michelle, Rachel and Matthew Wheeler of Perry; and great-grandchildren, Renee Austin and Matthew Logsdon of Lenoir, N.C. Grady was preceded in death by his parents, Council C. and Jennie Mae (Munday) Wheeler; two sisters, Lola Wheeler and Myrtle Wheeler Frye; four brothers, Lawrence, William, Charles and Council Jr.; and great-granddaughter, Tammy Greene Austin. A private service will be scheduled at a later date. Interment will follow at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chester Township.
