Obituary for Leona Eaton

LEONA EATON

 

YOUNGSTOWN – A funeral service celebrating the life of Mrs. Leona Eaton will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the New Bethel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Kenneth L. Simon officiating.

Mrs. Eaton departed this life on this life Dec. 23, 2013.

Mrs. Eaton was born March 11, 1915, in Montgomery, Ala., a daughter of Gilbert and Solomon and Vivian Burnett.

Mrs. Eaton was an active member of the church, where she faithfully served in the Senior Choir, Nurses Guild, Senior Ministry and Sunday school. She also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Stars and Salvation Army Senior Citizens Group. She retired from Diamond Nursing Care after 20 years of loyal service.

She leaves to celebrate her memory, her loving grandchildren, Debra M. Brown Carter (Willie) of Houston, Regina (Joel) Thompson of Phoenix, and William Darrell Moton of Cleveland; her stepchildren, Pauline Carr of Cleveland and Vera Jones of Youngstown; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmanuel Eaton; her daughter, Irene Moton; her stepson, Emanuel Eaton Jr.; and her grandson, Raynard Moton.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church.

Interment will be at Green Haven Memorial Gardens.
