“Together Again”
POLAND – Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at the Wasko Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Christ the Good Shepherd Parish at St. Joseph the Provider Catholic Church for Helen A. Grondolsky, 95, formerly of Campbell, who passed away peacefully in her sleep at Northside Medical Center on Thursday morning.
Helen was born April 15, 1918, in Mt. Braddock, Pa., the fourth child of 13 to Joseph M. and Frances Machesky Sadosky.
Having a wonderful childhood, as she became an adult, she met Henry J. Grondolsky, whom she married Oct. 16, 1937, at St. Joseph Church in Uniontown, Pa. Residing there, the couple started their family, having five beautiful daughters. In 1950, after losing their second born and Helen’s mother, Henry moved his family to Ohio to seek employment in the steel industry. Moving to Ohio brought three more daughters, making their family complete. In 1964, they experienced the death of their eldest child and in 1987, they lost their eldest grandchild.
Although sadness wasn’t a stranger to their lives, both Helen and Henry traveled to Europe extensively after his retirement. Both had a great sense of family. Blessed with seeing their children’s, children’s children (Biblically), after nearly 58 years of marriage, Henry passed away Aug. 19, 1995. Helen continued to carry the torch for her family.
Helen is survived by six daughters, Veronica Libby (Donald) and Carol Ann Nosek (Edward) of Poland, Martha Stein of Austintown, Barbara Reinhart (Frank) of New Waterford, Theresa Higinbotham (Eugene) of Warren, and Patricia Ann Snitzer (John) of Campbell.
Helen proudly boasted about having 20 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Kjersgaard of Matawan, N.J., Veronica Churilla Domko of Poland and Cecelia Bradley of Warren, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Gertrude Bozak of Rock Creek; and two brothers, Andrew Sadosky (Martha) of Hopwood, Pa. and Edward Sadosky (Josephine) of Girard.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry; her daughters, Eleanor Rivera and Josephine; one granddaughter, Rosemary Rivera Torres; four sisters, Viola, Agnes, Sophia Kolat and Frances Burkey; and three brothers, Johnny, Joseph and Anthony T.
“The Grondolsky family would like to thank the entire staff at Hampton Woods for their love and the outstanding care they provided for two and a half years to our mother. The family would also like to especially thank Kathy Cuthbertson, Pat Sudol, and Marilyn Terlecki, all from Campbell, who cared for mom in her home.”
As busy as Helen kept herself with her family, she always had time for the Lord. She was a member of Christ the Good Shepherd Parish at St. Joseph the Provider Catholic Church, its Infant Guild, a former member of the Ladies Polish Choir and the Altar Rosary Society. She also belonged to 1418 Senior Citizens Group.
The Grondolsky family has entrusted their mom to the care of the Wasko Funeral Home and will receive friends Monday from 5 to 8 p.m., where the Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m.
Interment will take place at Green Haven Cemetery.
