WILLIAM ''WILLIE'' A. LOGAR
 

 

NILES – William “Willie” A. Logar, 81, passed away peacefully at 12:30 p.m. on Friday July 12, 2013, at the Hospice House following and extended illness.

He was born in Niles on June 10, 1932, the son of Ignace and Jennie (Dolence) Logar, and lived in the Niles community most of his life.

A 1950 graduate of Niles McKinley High School, he was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a millwright for 40 years at Republic Steel, LTV Steel and retired in 1996 from WCI Steel. He was a member of St. Stephen Church, Amvets and the Army and Navy.

An avid Niles McKinley Red Dragons, Cleveland Browns and Indians fan, he enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and having family and friends to his home. Years earlier, he coached Niles Youth Baseball and was a Cub Scout Leader. Most of all, he cherished the time spent with his grandson, Cameron.

Willie is survived by his wife, Esther M. (DiJoseph) Logar, whom he married on Oct. 3, 1964; son, John (Mary) Logar of Uniontown; grandson, Cameron John Logar; and two twin sisters, Pauline Harris of Niles and Jennie Novak of Howland.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Elizabeth Havaich, Frances Stanec, Justine Brauer and Mary Visnosky; and six brothers, Ignace Logar, John Dolence, John Logar, Andrew Logar, Edward Logar and Frank Logar.

Calling hours will be Monday, July 15, 2013, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at 10 a.m. at St. Stephen Church. The Rev. Thomas Kraszewski will be the celebrant.

Burial will be at Greenhaven Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Trumbull County Honor Guard.
