Obituary for Edward K Holcomb

YOUNGSTOWN – There will be a funeral service at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home in Boardman followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Angela Merici (Sacred Heart) Church with the Rev. Kevin Peters celebrating the Mass for Edward K. Holcomb, 55, who passed away on Thursday, Nov. 21, surrounded by his loving family.

Eddie was born Jan. 26, 1958, in Youngstown, the son of Clarence E. and Alice I. (Stuckey) Holcomb.

He was a 1976 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School. Eddie retired in 2008 as a firefighter lieutenant with the Youngstown City Fire Department. He worked for American Ambulance from 1977 to 1984 and with the Youngstown City Ambulance “55” from 1979 to 1981. He was also a member of Station 3 of the Conneaut Lake Fire Department.

Eddie was a member of St. Angela Merici (Sacred Heart) Church. He was a member of Youngstown Fire Department Local No. 312, I.A.F.F., served on the board of the firefighter death benefit fund and involved with the firefighter children’s Christmas party. He was a member of St. Christine Men’s bowling league at Wedgewood Lanes.

Eddie enjoyed NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt No. 3. He loved to work on cars and had an eye for detail. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends at his camper and was a member at Holiday Campgrounds. Eddie often prepared pancakes and breakfast for his family and friends. He had a special bond and love for his fellow firefighters and department and always put others ahead of himself. He will truly be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Eddie will always be lovingly remembered by his mother of Youngstown; his wife, the former Valerie Duncan, whom he married Jan. 27, 1979; three sons, Daniel (Stacey) Holcomb of Youngstown, Adam (Marnie) Holcomb of Youngstown and Patrick Holcomb at home; three grandchildren, Austin, Emma and Tyler; brother, James Holcomb of Columbiana; sister, Melissa (Mark) Sanson of Masury; nieces and nephews; and his in-laws.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Friends may call on Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Rossi Brothers & Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman.

Interment will take place at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens.
