Obituary for Anthony Gambatese

Anthony J. Gambatese, 92, of Wickliffe, passed away Nov. 13, 2013. Born Nov. 23, 1920, in Cleveland he had been a Wickliffe resident for the past 56 years. Mr. Gambatese served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. He was a member of the American Legion Post 7 in Wickliffe. Mr. Gambatese had been the owner and operator of Gamby''s Sunoco in Wickliffe. Survivors are his sons, Anthony (Frances), Robert (Sybil), Frank (Debbie) and David; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and brother, Carmen. He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine (nee LaConte); son, Kenneth; brothers, Pat, Joe, Frank, Nick and Warren; and sister, Sue Shultz. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at the funeral home. Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chester Township.
