Obituary for Sarah E Hazzard

Sarah E. Hazzard

Sarah E. Hazzard answered the call from God, her father, and went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 9, 2013.

Our beloved mother was born on June 12, 1939 in Wilcox County, Alabama to the union of Flate McCants and Sarah E. Knight. She was introduced to Christ at an early age and became a member of the Pine Flat Baptist Church in Hybart, Alabama. As a young adult she met and married Willie C. Hazzard. After the passing of her husband, her life''s journey took her to places such as Mobile, Alabama and Akron, Ohio. As a resident of the Akron area, she was employed for several years by Uniwear Industrial Laundry Service, The Jewish Center, and in her later years she took joy in being a Foster Grandparent for Akron Summit Community Action (Calico, Ctr.). She later became a very faithful member of Stone''s Deliverance Evangelical Temple under the leadership and guidance of Pastor Mary L. Stone, who she loved dearly. She loved singing in the choir and working on the Usher Board, where she served faithfully until her health would not allow her to continue. She truly loved the Lord; she had a great love for the Word of God and was not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ Jesus.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; sisters, Fannie Jenkins and Carrie McCants; and brother, Frank McCants. She leaves to cherish her memory five daughters, Catherine Mc-Cants, Tanya Mitchell, and Erika Hazzard (of Akron, Ohio), Audrey (Clint) Walker (of N. Canton, Ohio), and Barbara (John) Thomas (of Upper Marlboro, Maryland); sisters, Rosie Nettles (Birmingham, Alabama), and Edna Grant (Atmore, Alabama); brothers, Richard McCants (Ocala, Fla), and George (Delores) McCants (Newark, N.J.); grandchildren, Cassandra McCants, Tiffany McCants, Daralynn Jackson, Lamar Thomas, A.J. Mitchell, Alexis Thomas, and Clint Walker Jr.; great-grand-children, Beunca, Eddie, Breanna, Cassidy, Emmanuel Thomas and Harmony Jackson; special God daughters, Juana (Wade) Stone (Akron, Ohio), Nicole Bates (Las Vegas, Nev.), Mary (Mike) Johnson (Normal, III.); special granddaughters, Choyce Covington and Kennedy Crook; special friends, Gladys Hooper, Aretha McReynolds, Cecile Cox, Elizabeth Green, Andrea Poole, Joan Sparks, Helen Williams, Connie Bowen, Pastor Sandra Lee (Baton Rouge, La.); and a host of other relatives and friends.
