Obituary for CARMEN L GARCIA
Carmen Lay Garcia Carmen Lay Garcia, 81, of Reading, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, March 15, 2021. Born March 8, 1940 in Vegabaja, Puerto Rico, she was raised by the late Ramona Garcia, Carmelo Ponce and Heriberto L. Pizzaro. Carmen worked for many years picking mushrooms both for Campbells Soup and Giorgio Mushrooms. She was a member of the Church of God, Reading and loved cooking and watching soap operas. Most of all, Carmen loved worshiping and praising Jesus and spending time with her family. Carmen is survived by her children, Ceferino Hernandez, Reading, Wanda Troche, Reading, Denise Garcia, Reading, Jose M. Garcia, Pembroke Pines, FL, Fritzi Bailey, Fredericksburg, Pablo T. Lebron, Jr., Reading, Gloria Hernandez, Reading, Clarisol Saez, Reading, and Francisco Martinez, Shillington. She is also survived by her 41 grandchildren, 68 great- grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren on the way, 10 great-great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild on the way, and by her siblings, Andres, William, Carmen, Elisa, Margie and Carmen. Along with her parents, Carmen was preceded in death by her children, Louis, Juana, Angel, Julio and Juan Jr., her sister, Maria and her brother Francisco. A viewing for Carmen will be held on Friday evening, March 19, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Church of God, 123 N. 6th St., Reading, PA. Services will follow at 7:00 pm at the church. Committal Services will be held in the mausoleum at Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Rd, Reading, on Saturday, March 20, 2021 beginning promptly at 9:30 am. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum.
