Obituary for Shirley Printz

Shirley Lee Printz 94, passed away early Sunday at the Inn at University Village in Massillon, Ohio. She was born July 28th, 1919 and was a lifelong resident of Massillon. She was preceded in death by parents, Jessie and Carrie Giles, sister Nancy Rittenour and her husband of 62 years, Burton. Shirley is survived by two sons, Timothy (Harriet) Printz, and Dennis (Allison) Printz; four grandchildren, Steven Printz, Melinda Reese, Melissa Pachis, and Andrew (Katie) Printz; and six great-grandchildren, Samuel and Ethan Printz, Kayla, Caden, Braylon Pachis, and Ryan Printz. On Dec. 26, 1942, she married her high school sweetheart, Burton, in Miami, Fla. where he was stationed during World War II. She attended Kent State University where she received her teaching degree. Shirley was a kindergarten teacher at Whittier School in the Massillon City School System. She had a magnetic personality, especially with all the children whom she dearly loved. She was a favorite teacher of many, both young and old. Shirley enjoyed life, loved to have fun and made other people feel special. She was a person others enjoyed being around. She loved to laugh and told others not to worry about things for life is much too short. At the time of her passing, she was the oldest living member of Central Presbyterian Church of Massillon. She was an active member of Eastern Star, Massillon Women''s Club, College Club of Canton, Stark County Retired Teacher''s Association and AARP. Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Central Presbyterian Church with Rev. Larry Lalama officiating. Calling hours will be held at the church on Friday 9:30-11 a.m. The interment will be at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. The family suggests memorials to Central Presbyterian Church.
