Obituary for Jean E Patterson

JEAN E. PATTERSON

BOARDMAN – Jean Elizabeth Patterson, 93, died Saturday evening, Nov. 2, 2013, at Hospice House, surrounded by her family.

Jean was born Sept. 25, 1920, in Dunkirk, N.Y., the daughter of the late Joseph and Lulu (Thompson) Brawn. She moved to the area as a child, and graduated from Boardman High School in 1938.

Jean worked for the Boardman Local School District for over 25 years, working in the cafeteria at Glenwood Middle School, and later as the cafeteria manager of Stadium Drive Elementary School.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and watching Cleveland pro sports teams on TV. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.

During her younger years, she and her husband, “Pat,” could be found at every Boardman and Youngstown State University basketball game.

Her husband of 65 years, Jacob Baylor “Pat” Patterson, whom she married on Jan. 2, 1941, died Oct. 7, 2006.

Jean is survived by three children, Christy Lu (Thomas) Vross, Richard B. (Martha) Patterson, both of Boardman, and Jeffrey A. (Pamela) Patterson of Canfield; six grandchildren, Amy, Angie, Jimmy, Jay, Colleen and Kristen; and seven great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, Jean was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Jill Patterson and Allison Vross; a great- grandson, Jacob Scot Murray; and two sisters, Jeanette Jones and Phyllis Evans.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at 7 p.m. at the Boardman United Methodist Church, 6809 Market St., Boardman, where family and friends may call from 6 to 7 p.m. at the church.

Arrangements are being handled by the Thompson Funeral Home, 4221 Market Street, Boardman.
