Obituary for Josephine Sakoman

JOSEPHINE SAKOMAN

 

LISBON – Josephine Sakoman passed away on Oct. 15, 2013, at Parkside Health Care in Columbiana.

Mrs. Sakoman was born on Sept. 14, 1922, in Pulaski, Pa., a daughter of Ignatius and Francis Peschinsky Nuskievicz, and was a lifelong resident of the area.

She earned her first degree in education from Youngstown State University and her second from Kent State. She taught school at Immaculate Conception School in Youngstown for 28 years.

She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Canfield and St. George Catholic Church in Lisbon. She and her husband, John were members of St. George Lodge No. 66 and the ACC Club.

She leaves her only daughter, Patti Baker (husband Pete) of Elkton and her only grandson, B. Keith Dunkel and his wife, Beth of Poland. She also leaves a great-granddaughter, Sidney, the apple of her eye.

Her husband, John, whom she married on June 27, 1953, died on Nov. 29, 2009.

Four brothers and two sisters are deceased.

John and Jo took great pride in following their grandsons’ football from grade 3 through college. In all the years they only missed two games.

The family would like to thank the staff of Parkside for all the wonderful care that they have given her. Also a big thank you to All Caring Hospice for making her passing easier.

Private services took place at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana with entombment following at Green Haven Memorial Gardens, Canfield.
