Obituary for Eleanor D Hughey

YOUNGSTOWN – A Mass will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at St. Angela Merici Parish/Sacred Heart Church for Eleanor Delores Hughey, 86, who departed this life Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, at the Hospice House.

Mrs. Hughey was born March 7, 1927, in Youngstown, a daughter of Donald E. and Lavern A. Taylor, and was their only child.

She was a graduate of The Rayen School.

She was one of the founding members of the Junior Civic League of Youngstown, a member of the AARP and a volunteer with the Easter Seals. In addition to her civic work, she enjoyed sewing, knitting and baking.

Eleanor was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends.

Eleanor leaves behind her two sons, Mark A. Hughey and wife Jeanette Hughey of Youngstown, and Bruce E. Hughey and wife Denise S. Becker-Hughey of Los Angeles; two granddaughters; and three great-granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her husband, James, whom she married April 11, 1953, and who died April 28, 2010.

Calling hours will be Thursday from noon to 1 p.m., with the services immediately following at St. Angela Merici Parish/Sacred Heart Church.
